Biographical Sketch: Kathleen Curtis, LPN, Executive Director at Clean and Healthy New York, has over two decades of experience in NY’s environmental health movement and is a widely recognized national leader. She co-coordinates the JustGreen Partnership, a consortium of 50 groups representing over a million New Yorkers. She is the national coordinator of the Hazardous Flame Retardant Campaign and is a long-time co-leader of the Coming Clean Collaborative’s Policy Workgroup, where she was among the early drafters of the Louisville Charter for Safer Chemicals (louisvillecharter.org) and through which she co-founded the SAFERStates campaign. She was Executive Director at Citizens' Environmental Coalition (CEC) for the last four of her thirteen years there, which she began by establishing their community outreach program. Previously, she was Outreach Director at Environmental Planning Lobby (now Environmental Advocates of NY) and worked as a nurse. She serves on the Rotterdam Conservation Advisory Council, the boards of the Eastern NY Occupational Health Clinic and the Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments, the EPA Design for the Environment's decaBDE and HBCD Alternatives Assessment Partnerships and the NY State Taskforce on Flame Retardant Safety. She is on the steering committee of Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families and the Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments, for which she co-coordinates the policy workgroup
