Biographical Sketch: Ailton Coleman is a graduate researcher at the Center for Public Health and Health Policy at the University of Connecticut, Storrs and the University of Connecticut Health Center, Farmington. He has worked on school based interventions for the past ten years. His earliest experience was in the field of reproductive and sexual health promotion with college-aged students at Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA. Later, he worked with middle school and high school-aged children in the Republic of Kiribati as a Peace Corps Volunteer. Upon returning to the United States, Ailton worked on childhood obesity prevention programs in school settings. He completed his Master’s in Public Health at the Mel and Enid Zuckerman School of Public Health . While working at the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension, Ailton was a graduate researcher on a program titled Classy Moves, which examine the role of brief exercises set on childhood obesity. Currently, Ailton serves as a graduate researcher on a sweetened beverage reduction intervention with pre-school aged children in Hartford, CT. In his current role he evaluates the interaction between University Students, Parents of Pre-schoolers, and Teaching Staff.
