Biographical Sketch:
Jocelyn R. Smith is a Doctoral Candidate in the Family Science Department at the University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP). Her dissertation research investigates how violence, trauma, and loss shape the transition to adulthood for economically disadvantaged youth. Jocelyn recently completed her tenure as a Junior Researcher with the William T. Grant Foundation’s Scholars’ Mentoring Program under the mentorship of Dr. Kevin Roy. In 2008, she graduated from UMCP with a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and presently provides couple, individual, and family therapy in Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties in Maryland. Jocelyn completed her undergraduate work in Psychology in 2006 at Hampton University in Hampton, VA.
