Biographical Sketch: Dr. Valerie Newsome received her Doctorate in Biobehavioral Health from Penn State University and is currently a post-doctoral fellow with National Development and Research Institutes in New York City. Her research addresses cultural influences on health behavior, as well as the structural contributors to disparities in health across race and gender. Much of her work focuses on HIV/AIDS risk and prevention in the United States and South Africa.
