Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Sistrom received her PhD in Public Administration and Policy with a minor in Medical Anthropology from Portland State University in 2008. She received a masters in Community Health Nursing from the University of Virginia in 1987, and a bachelors degree in nursing from Oregon Health & Sciences University in 1985, where she was until recently, an Associate Professor of Nursing and also faculty in the Oregon Masters of Public Health Program. Dr. Sistrom has worked in various public health nursing, epidemiology and management positions in Virginia, Oregon and now in Alaska. She lived and worked in "bush" Alaska for a year, which is the subject of this talk, and is now the nurse manager for the Kenai Peninsula health departments for the State of Alaska Section of Public Health Nursing.
