Biographical Sketch: Joanna is a medical ethnobotanist with additional training in herbalism, public health, agroecology, and medical education. She is currently the Associate Director of the Urban Medicine Program, a unique curriculum that gets medical students engaged in underserved communities in Chicago for all four years of medical school. She also teaches classes in alternative medicine, traditional medicine, and public health. Internationally her interests lie in the ethics of medicinal plant research with indigenous communities.
