Biographical Sketch: Olena Mazurenko Olena Mazurenko is a Doctoral Student in the Administration-Health Services Program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She has a medical degree from the National O. Bohomolets Medical University (Kiev, Ukraine). During her medical education, Mazurenko was involved in the HIV/AIDS educational campaigns targeted to student populations. Upon graduation she practiced internal medicine in a district hospital in Kiev. Following this, Mazurenko has completed Master Program in International Health in Charite, Humboldt University (Berlin, Germany). Her dissertation topic was on contraceptive knowledge and practice among women who opted for induced abortion. The study took place in a district hospital in Kiev, Ukraine. She is interested in the gender equality, advancement of women’s human rights, educational campaigns geared to vulnerable populations, health system strengthening policies.
