Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Kimberly R. Enard, Kellogg Health Scholar Postdoctoral Fellow in the Center for Health Equity and Evaluation Research (CHEER) at the University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Enard applies the principles of community-based participatory research to engage system-level stakeholders (hospitals, community health centers, clinicians, etc.) in designing innovative strategies to improve healthcare access and quality for underserved populations, evaluating these approaches in real-world settings, and then promoting deployment of the most effective discoveries into evidence-based policies and practices. A key focus of Dr. Enard’s research is addressing disparities by identifying system- , community- and individual-level perceived and actual facilitators and barriers to healthcare, and developing and testing patient education and communication mechanisms that promote patient-centered, shared-decision making processes and culturally competent healthcare delivery.
