Biographical Sketch: Sandy Magaña, PhD, MSW is a Professor in the Departments of Disability and Human Development and Occupational Therapy at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Magaña’s research is on the cultural-context of families of persons with disabilities and mental illness. Her current research includes an NIH funded study investigating the cultural equivalence of autism assessment among Latino children; and a NIDRR funded intervention study on health promotion for Latina mothers of children with disabilities.
