Behavioral Health Care and ACA Dialogue: Lessons Learned/Models Implemented. Sponsored by ATOD & Mental Health Sections

Monday, November 4, 2013: 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM
Oral
The Behavioral Health field needs to address the imminent health reform changes in service delivery, changes in payment structures, data collection, workforce needs, and federal/state rules and regulations. Providers need to be aware of the requirements and opportunities in their state to be included in the billing networks, referral networks, and medical care networks for their state’s Exchanges and state Medicaid program. Agencies must be ready for the pending transformational changes in order to survive and flourish in the coming years. Although the Health Reform path is evolving – the time to get ready and be flexible is NOW. We all need to be “ready” by discussing the “how” by sharing and collaborating with other agencies and networks. This Roundtable session will provide an opportunity for participants to discuss their successes and barriers faced to date as well as learn from other participants. Key overarching domains are Integration & Service Delivery, Financial Infrastructure, Clinical/Operations, and Prevention & Tobacco Cessation. There will be 4 facilitated tables and participants can rotate 3 times throughout the session. Each table will report out discussion highlights which will then be summarized following the meeting for the entire ATOD and Mental Health Section members.
Session Objectives: Explain the key domains needed for health reform readiness. Describe the opportunities for the behavioral health field as a result of the ACA. Analyze the lessons learned and/or models to be “ready” for ACA implementation.
