Recommendations for a National Strategy on Infant Mortality: Report of the Secretary’s Advisory Committee on Infant Mortality

Tuesday, November 5, 2013: 12:30 PM - 2:00 PM
Oral
At an international child health meeting in June 2012, the U.S. Secretary of Health announced her intention to develop the country’s first national strategy on infant mortality. Subsequently, the federal Advisory Committee on Infant Mortality (SACIM) was charged with developing a comprehensive and innovative set of recommendations for such a strategy. SACIM’s final recommendations were submitted to the Secretary in December 2012 and officially recognized by her office in March 2013. This special session will inform the MCH community about this landmark public health initiative, detail SACIM's "6 Big Idea" recommendations, and discuss the process of further delineating, prioritizing and implementing them.
