Changing Landscape of Healthcare - Impact of Accountable Care Organizations

Monday, November 2, 2015 : 2:30 p.m. - 2:45 p.m.

The art of practicing medicine remains the same, but the business of medicine is changing with the times.  Today, escalating costs of healthcare is reaching a state of crisis.  Some of these costs are a direct result of our failure to provide our patients access to care in a timely fashion.

A better understanding of the changes on the medical horizon will enable us to be woven into the core fabric of the evolving healthcare environment.  At this critical time when health care reform is focused on improving quality while reducing costs, Accountable care organizations (ACOs) are a newly proposed vehicle for improving or maintaining high-quality patient care while controlling costs. Accountable Care Organizations are value-based, data driven, and patient centered to the extent that quality is rewarded over quantity.
