Background: The Affordable Care Act (ACA) has resulted in Latinos as the least insured population in the United States. This study focuses on multiple generations of the  Mexican-American population in an urban working class community and evaluates their barriers in obtaining health insurance. The purpose of this study is to utilize existing perceptions to create a set of messages aimed towards the respective generational groups living within this community, in hopes of increasing the rates of insured Mexican-Americans. By utilizing a federally qualified health center and  a city funded independent  senior living development we where able to access recently enrolled individuals.

Methods:This study will be conducted through a series of structured interviews with Navigators in the community and the family members of multiple generations recruited through a FQHC and independent senior living home. We will do a thematic analysis and evaluate for the perceptions surrounding the ACA that the different generations have. We will then analyze this information to identify major barriers or misconceptions surrounding the Affordable Care Act.

Results: We will present the results of our thematic analysis at a later date.
