Business model for elderly industry in Taiwan
Our study aims to reduce the supply-demand interactive gap between the elderly citizens and the elderly business management though quantitative interviews with CEOs in Taiwan.
We selected 33 elderly business corporations in Taiwan and conducted 2-hour in-depth interviews with each CEO of corporations, i.e., totally 66 hours interviews, in 2014 to explore successful business models for elderly industry.
The results indicate that elderly industry in Taiwan is an aggregation of micro-markets, and is currently under a paradigm shift from previous seller’s market into an elderly-oriented buyer’s market. It complies with the diversified and substitutive needs for the elderly and their caregivers and regarded as an all-age friendly, universal and cross-industry integral model capable of providing a one-stop shopping complex service.
Due to the small market body of the elderly industry in Taiwan, we should enhance cross-border international services with China and Asian countries. In addition, we suggest researchers should pay more attention on opportunities for the elderly industry development.
