Approaches to Qualitative Inquiry

This session is designed to provide students with options for engaging in qualitative research. Using Creswell’s (2007) model of qualitative inquiry and research design, participants will be introduced to phenomenology, ethnography, grounded theory methodology, narrative inquiry, and case studies as approaches for conducting qualitative studies. We will discuss strengths and weaknesses, as well as the similarities and differences of each of the five approaches.
