Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between bullying and victimization behavior in school and witnessing or experiencing domestic violence for middle school student in South Korea, with attention to depression and aggregations as mediators of these associations.

This study goal is to analysis of adolescent's exposure to domestic violence on school violence: 1) Do effect to witnessing parental violence and experiencing child abuse of youth on school violence? 2) Which youth have witnessed inter-parental violence or experienced child abuse are more likely to internalizing (depression) or externalizing (aggression)? 3) What pathway to harassment or victimization behavior on school violence?

Methods: Analyses were based on data from the 2010 waves of the Korea Youth Panel Survey (KYPS). I used an analytic sample of 3,499 adolescents who are aged 15 and participated in the 2010 core questionnaire on this study. In order to examine how domestic violence affects school violence harassment and victimization behaviors, I performed Structural Equation Models.

Results: Experiencing child abuse is associated with bullying and victimization in school. Exposure of inter-parental violence significantly associated depression and aggression. Depression linked with victimization in school, while aggression associated with aggressive behavior in school.

Discussion:  The findings call for a integrated intervention for domestic violence that child can direct or indirect experience domestic violence. Thus, policies or social service programs for school violence intervention should not only focus on aggressive behaviors but also identify ways to minimize internalize or externalized behaviors included family environment.
