The Pacific Center for Special Care at the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry developed a telehealth-enabled dental delivery system called the Virtual Dental Home.  This system reaches underserved populations by bringing services on-site to where patients live, play, or work.  Over the last five years, more than 2,500 patients in California have received dental care through the Virtual Dental Home.  The goals of the Virtual Dental Home system is to reach people who do not traditionally get dental care and to achieve the triple aim in oral health care - improve the experiences of receiving oral health care, improve the oral health of the population, and do this at a lower cost per capita.

This session will describe the methodology used to collect and evaluate the changes in patient health outcomes.  It will also present data on improvement in the oral health of the populations that have participated in this system and the economics of providing care using this system.
