Data analytics is a slow but growing field in healthcare especially with the move towards Electronic Health Records systems nationwide. Proper statutory policies and procedures must be adopted to protect healthcare organizations, data analytics companies and the patient. As a result, it is critical for "Big Data" users in both the data analytics industry and healthcare industry to understand the legal and ethical dilemmas surrounding the use of data analytics. The presentation will attempt to explain the likely relationships in the healthcare big data industry from both  ethical and legal perspectives.  In addition, the presentation will review and share some of the legal issues arising from such relationships.  Finally, the presentation will describe hypothetical ethical and legal situations particularly focused on data security and breaches now occurring in the healthcare industry.
