Roman Zenz, Los Angeles, CA
This film tells the story of a handful of city dwellers growing food in Los Angeles, California. They are a diverse group intent to reclaim a skill that has been lost to the industrial food complex. We witness their struggles with the city, their families, nature and themselves.

The director of the film was raised in Germany and moving to Los Angeles in 2008, he observed the lack of fruits and vegetables available to many underserved communities. The director described his observation as people living in food deserts—a lack of access to natural or organic fresh foods.

The film introduces leading food advocates and food gardeners of the urban farming renaissance in Los Angeles, California, allowing them to share how they are reducing and/or mitigating food insecurities in lower socio-economic and middle-income communities.

The film addresses industrial food control as well as the struggles with city government adoption and family support.
