Voices from the Edge: Mental health in Nepal and South Africa

Persons living with mental health problems, and and their families are often stigmatised by societies. Voices from the Edge is a feature film (47 mins) set in Nepal and South Africa, told from a patient perspective. It takes the viewer on a journey of 2 Nepalese and 2 South African families personal experiences of living with, or supporting a family member living with mental illness. The illnesses that the families are faced with include mental problems associated with substance abuse, depression, schizophrenia and intellectual disability.  Along their journey, they come across traditional healers, health workers and members of the PRIME, working to integrate mental health into the public health system.
