Need Help Around Your Office? Linking MPH Students with Local Health Departments

Monday, November 2, 2015 : 1:30 p.m. - 1:50 p.m.

Lora Wier, AD, Montana Public Health Association, Choteau, MT

The Montana Public Health Association (MPHA) created an interactive webpage on their website, promoting opportunities for public health students to work with local health departments (LHD) to complete their practicums.  On this website LHDs could list their accreditation needs, and students could review and contact LHDs that have a practicum opportunity of interest.  LDHs will benefit from student assistance in completing accreditation requirements, while also meeting Measure 8.1.1.  The students would have the benefit of easily finding unique practicum sites across Montana that provides a true public health experience.  The stipend scholarship would allow LHDs funding to provide a stipend for the graduate student thereby enticing students to select LHDs as their practicum site.
