Health in All Policies: The Mexican Experience Applying HiAP

Intersectoral action to attain health equity is the main purpose of the HIAP approach. Mexico has implemented several national level strategies with a strong component of intersectorial action. One examples will be presented: the National strategy

for prevention and control of overweight, obesity and diabetes. The purpose of this initiative is to promote behavioral changes in terms of healthy lifestyles, healthy consumption habits and physical activity of Mexicans. The national strategy calls for the participation of public and private entities as well as governmental sectors such as health, education, social welfare, and finances.
