Dr Galea previously served as Professor and Chair, Department of Epidemiology, Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health where he launched initiatives addressing six core areas of epidemiology: chronic, infectious, injury, lifecourse, psychiatric/neurological, and social. Dr Galea is interested in the social production of health of urban populations, with a focus on the causes of brain disorders, particularly common mood-anxiety disorders and substance abuse.
