The purpose of this session is to give an overview of the various types and settings in which women face violence. Through presentations, attendees will learn of survivor and provider accounts of violence, prevention of violence, advocacy and policy implications and how media campaigns may be used to combat violence. Lastly, attendees will have a better understanding of the various prevention efforts going forth through community and policy settings.
Session Objectives: By the end of the session, participants will be able to:
1. Describe the varying types of violence against women worldwide
2. Discuss solutions to combating violence against women
3. List ways to advocate for change regarding policy and violence against women
