Childcare Poster Session: Health and Safety in Child Care

This session highlights current research and practice to improve the health of infants and young children in child care settings. Topics include nutrition, physical activity and breastfeeding policy, standards, practice, and/or effectiveness of child care programs.
Session Objectives: Explain how licensing, monitoring, standards, and support from Child Care Health Consultants improve health and safety in child care. Describe the need for health-related resources, training, and research to promote breastfeeding, vaccination, injury prevention, and support for children with special health care needs in child care settings. Identify health risks among staff working in child care settings and current recommendations for protecting and promoting the health of child care workers.
