CALL FOR ABSTRACTS — APHA 2016 Annual Meeting & Expo

PHEHP Student Award Contest

Meeting theme: Creating the Healthiest Nation: Ensuring the Right to Health

Submission Deadline: Wednesday, February 24, 2016

The Public Health Education and Health Promotion Section (PHEHP) of the American Public Health Association announces a call for abstracts for a dedicated student poster session at this year’s annual meeting being held in Denver, CO from October 29th to November 2nd.  Students are encouraged to submit abstracts that relate to the conference theme, "Creating the Healthiest Nation: Ensuring the Right to Health” as well as other themes related to public health education and health promotion.  Student awardees can be active at the doctoral, masters, or undergraduate level. Ten student awardees will be invited to present their work (poster format) at the conference and will receive a certificate for their participation. Students are also eligible for a $50 stipend if all required information is provided.[1]  The criteria for selection of awardees can be found at the end of this document.  We are interested in student abstracts that show an individual student’s work on an applied research or evaluation project, abstracts designed to document the community health education and/or health communication work of a student or group of students or projects that contribute to the translation of research. The student submitter must be the first author.  Multiple student authors are acceptable, but only the first author will receive the stipend and certificate.  Faculty members may not be the first author.   The student author or an author from the student group must register for and attend the conference to accept the award.  Abstracts are limited to 250 words, must include at least 2 learning objectives, and must be submitted by 5 p.m. (PST) on Wednesday, February 24th, 2016.

[1] If selected, you will be required to submit your social security number to obtain your stipend.
