CALL FOR ABSTRACTS — APHA's 2018 Annual Meeting & Expo

APHA-Council of Affiliates

Meeting theme: Creating the Healthiest Nation: Health Equity Now

Submission Deadline: Tuesday, May 15, 2018

The Council of Affiliates (CoA) is the APHA unit that promotes efficient and effective communication and coordination between APHA and its 54 state and regional public health associations (two each in California and New York; one in the remaining states; one in Metro Washington, DC; and one in Puerto Rico). Strong affiliates are critical to APHA and the CoA provides an important role in supporting and promoting the activities of these organizations.

2018 Affiliate Poster Submissions

The CoA invites Affiliates to submit abstracts for posters which will highlight Affiliate best practices and/or promising programs for the 146th APHA Annual Meeting & Exposition in San Diego, CA, November 10 – November 14, 2018.  This year the conference will explore the theme “Creating the Healthiest Nation: Health Equity Now”.  In keeping with this theme, proposals that focus on health equity will be especially welcomed. However, posters can be on any topic related to any work of the Affiliate. Affiliate posters accepted for exhibition will also be posted on the Affiliate Online Community so that all Affiliates will have the opportunity to learn from these model programs. The deadline for submitting poster abstracts is Tuesday, May 15, 2018. Authors will be contacted by the end of June regarding poster abstract selection for exhibition.

2018 Graduate and Undergraduate Student Poster Submissions

The CoA is sponsoring two student poster sessions – one session for undergraduate students and one session for graduate students - for exhibition at the 146th APHA Annual Meeting & Exposition in San Diego, CA, November 10 – November 14, 2018. Students are encouraged to submit proposals that highlight their research or experience in public health while they were students. The proposal may cover work the student has recently completed or is in the process of completing. This year the APHA conference will explore the theme “Creating the Healthiest Nation: Health Equity Now”.  The undergraduate poster session will be exclusively for abstracts written by undergraduate students and the graduate student poster session will be open to graduate students only (master and doctoral levels).  Student posters accepted for exhibition at the annual meeting will be judged by a sub-committee of the CoA and top winners will be selected and awarded a cash prize and a certificate acknowledging their work. The deadline for submitting poster abstracts is Tuesday, May 15, 2018. Authors will be contacted by the end of June regarding poster abstract selection for exhibition.
