APHA's 2020 VIRTUAL Annual Meeting and Expo (Oct. 24 - 28)
In response to COVID-19, the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences Worker Training Program reconfigured their biannual technical workshop into a full-day virtual meeting to focus on the coronavirus. The March 17 virtual meeting, “Protecting Infectious Disease Responders During the COVID-19 Outbreak,” brought together the nation’s leading experts on infectious diseases from federal agencies, academia, and other organizations to explore what training and protective measures would best inform protections of workers during the current COVID-19 outbreak. The event was condensed into a 12-minute highlight video to share key messages with first responders and the broader workforce. The goal is simple: To protect and prepare as many front-line workers and first responders as possible. Speakers included Alexander Isakov, M.D., of the Emory University Woodruff Health Sciences Center, a co-sponsor of the meeting, Richard Hunt, M.D., of the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness, Darryl Alexander, consultant for the American Federation of Teachers, and many more.
