The UN MDGs (2000-15) shone a bright light on the strategies, technologies and outcomes needed to reduce maternal and child mortality in LMICs. The WHO Nurturing Care Framework (adopted 2018) frames the cross-sectoral nature of optimal early childhood development. COVID-19 brings to scrutiny the disconnects extant and synergies required through nutrition, healthcare, education, and child protection sectors for children to survive and thrive, especially in a pandemic.

This presentation will address the impact of COVID-19 on young children and parents/caregivers highlighting the support needed during this time to ensure that all children are able to survive and thrive.
