Gentilly Resilience District is the cornerstone of New Orleans’ winning submission to the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s National Disaster Resilience Competition.
In 2016, New Orleans was chosen by HUD as one of 13 competition winners and was granted $141M to design and build a transformational pilot network of interventions focused around 4 key areas.

This presentation will provide an overview of the impacts of climate change on New Orleans and the effect that climate change will have on the health of New Orleanians. We will discuss the work the City is doing to respond to/prepare for the impacts of climate change and how we are engaging residents as we study these impacts. This presentation will look at New Orleans risk of flooding but also other threats such as warming temperatures, worsening air quality and increasing vector-borne illnesses.
