CALL FOR ABSTRACTS — APHA 2023 Annual Meeting and Expo

One Health

Meeting theme: "Creating the Healthiest Nation: Overcoming Social and Ethical Challenges"

The APHA One Health Section invites abstract submissions covering the impact of One Health issues (such as animal-human-ecosystem interaction, zoonoses and vector-borne diseases, food safety, antimicrobial resistance, veterinary public health, and other related topics).

Oral and Poster Sessions:

Abstracts dedicated to any and all aspects of One Health will be considered. Additionally, topics related to novel, community-focused approaches to One Health work are encouraged as this year’s theme is ‘Overcoming Social and Ethical Challenges.’

Panel SessionsThe One Health Section welcomes the submission of proposals for pre-arranged panels. Pre-arranged panels should be composed of at least three individual presentations. If you are interested in organizing a panel, please email Dr. Stephanie Masiello Schuette ( with the proposed panel title, a one paragraph description of the panel, the title of all presentations, and the name of the organizer. Please specify “APHA 2023 Panel” in the subject line of all emails related to pre-arranged panel submissions. Individual presentations that are a part of a proposed pre-arranged panel must be submitted through the standard abstract submission process by the specified deadline. These abstracts will undergo peer review. Submission of a pre-arranged panel does not guarantee that all individual abstracts will be accepted.

Attention One Health Students: The One Health Section is passionate about the future of our field and seeks submissions specifically from students for poster presentations. Student posters will be evaluated on:

  • Scientific content (abstract, introduction, methods, results, discussion/conclusion)
  • Presentation (organization, figures and tables, overall display)
  • Knowledge (response to questions, understanding of work, big picture thinking)

When submitting your abstract, please indicate if you would like to be considered for a Poster Award. The awards will be announced and presented at the annual meeting during the One Health Section Social Hour. All poster authors are encouraged to attend.
