This film is comprised of three separate short stories of Black women who are living with and managing Type 2 diabetes:

These stories are part of a larger series featured in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Your Diabetes Compass website, a self-care tool filled with information, resources, and support created specifically with Black women in mind. This necessary website of stories and lifestyle tools are designed to be a source of inspiration for other Black women, who are nearly twice as likely to develop type 2 diabetes. Through their stories, Marcela, Velma and Alexis represent deep resilience and commitment to authentic self-care.
