The CDC's Office of Prevention through Healthcare was created in 2010 to capitalize on the momentous opportunities presented by the Affordable Care Act. The focus of the office is to develop strategies for more effective engagement between public health and healthcare and to engage CDC offices and external stakeholders on specific activities related to improving the interface, interactions and integration opportunities between public health agencies and healthcare organizations.
