Using evidence based practices for place based prevention strategies can be greatly enhanced when the work is accomplished through a Public Private partnership, whose purpose is to create collective impact. The process of building this robust partnership stems from tiered approach to engagement between funded partners, agencies involved in change strategies, community leaders and the general public. The result creates a common agenda, integrated activity and continuous communication.

Qualified on the content I am responsible for because: I have been the principal of multiple federally funded grants focusing on obesity, nutrition and physical activity including the Communities Putting Prevention to Work and the Community Transformation grant. I have also been a co-principal in RWJ Healthy Kids Healthy Community grant. Among my scientific interests has been the development of policy systems or environmental strategies for preventing obesity.
