This session will provide an overview of education governance in the United States and discuss how public health professionals can with education systems. Participants will be encouraged to examine their approaches and desired outcomes and consider how to modify or recast to better involve the education sector

Qualified on the content I am responsible for because: I am an educator who started my career as a pre-school teacher, and has taught students as young as two and as old as 85. I served as the Director of the School Health Project at the Council of Chief State School Officers, and as interim Executive Director at Action for Healthy Kids. After a year of consulting work, I joined the staff of NEA HIN full time in January of 2009.
