Executing successful advocacy is essential to create and defend strong public health policy. This workshop will cover the how, what and where of public policy advocacy and how the public health community can focus our advocacy efforts for success.

Identify how best to conduct advocacy for public health policy. 1. Design communication strategies for key decision makers who can decide public health policy. 2. Demonstrate how to engage partners in public health policy campaigns to gain the support of decision makers.

Qualified on the content I am responsible for because: I am the Executive Secretary for the Montana Public Health Association and have served in the capacity of chairperson of the MPHA Advocacy and Policy committee 6 years. I have been actively engaged in the Montana legislative process researching issues, testifying before committees, and meeting with lawmakers. On the federal level, I have participated in numerous public health related advocacy fly-in meetings.
