The American Public Health Association is using social media to develop and sustain an online community of public health professionals and partners who support improving and protecting the public's health. This presentation will discuss channels and methods APHA is using to reach its new media goals, lessons learned and guidelines for using social media to support public health practice.

At the end of this presentation, the participant will be able to: (1) describe ways APHA is using social media to support public health practice; and (2) describe at least three promising practices for integrating social media into existing public health work.
