1000.0 The Triple Aim: Health, care and cost

Tuesday, June 26, 2012: 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM
Oral
This session will focus vision of how public health and health care both need to change to create a more integrated system and ultimately a healthier nation. Dr. Berwick will focus on the tremendous unrealized potential in American medicine. Despite our outstanding knowledge base, expert practitioners, and world-class equipment, most Americans do not have access to safe, high-quality care. Dr. Berwick presents a vision of how, through well-applied IT, new methods of healthcare delivery, and effective legislation, America can forge a system that satisfies our patients, our wallets, and our moral imperative to care for those who need care. In addition, this session will offer the audience the opportunity to hear from local leaders about the North Carolina public health infrastructure.
Session Objectives: 1) Discuss the importance of changing the experience of care, the health of populations and the per capita cost of health care. 2) Identify strategies for a more effective health system that improves the health of our nation
