Almost a decade has passed since the Institute of Medicine report entitled "Who Will Keep the Public Healthy" described concern over the lack of available public health professionals to provide essential public health services. Themes in the report included enumeration,education, competencies and recruitment.
Session Objectives: This session will address issues of workforce enumeration, development, education, recruitment & credentialing. At the end of this session, participants will be able to: 1. Describe current issues facing employers of public health professionals 2.Identify strategies to recruit, retain and develop competent public health professionals 3. Discuss best and promising practices related to workforce development
