In Orange County, California, Asian and Pacific Islander (API) men have high rates of uninsurance and have difficulty accessing health services, thus making these men at high risk for disease and illness. To address this situation, the Orange County Asian & Pacific Islander Community Alliance (OCAPICA) created the API Men’s Health Program to focus upon the comprehensive health and well-being of API men. The program is comprised of three components: 1) increasing the accessibility of health care services, 2) targeting the specific API ethnic populations with health education, and 3) encouraging behavior modification among API men and their families to seek health care. Recruitment of members of different API communities and their leadership in the API Men’s Health Program was very important in its formation and implementation. Successes and challenges in implementation of the program will be discussed, as well as a presentation of health data of API men.

Learning Objectives: 1) To identify and understand the health needs of Asian and Pacific Islander men, 2)To develop health messages that will effectively reach Asian and Pacific Islander men
