The Kennedy Krieger Institute of Baltimore provided financial assistance and social support to assist 118 families’ relocation to Lead Safe Housing. The KKI program successfully relocated 42% of families. Of those successfully relocated, 60% remained at their new residences for a significant period of time. Results will be presented about the cost of relocation, and the effect on dust levels. Relocating families to lead safe housing was much more difficult that originally anticipated by the KKI program. This presentation will discuss the problems encountered as well as give practical suggestions for over coming many of the difficulties of relocation. This presentation will make recommendations for improving retention of families in their relocated homes.
