Mary Anne Foo, MPH, Orange County Asian and Pacific Islander Community Alliance, 10612 Garden Grove Blvd, Garden Grove, CA 92843, (714) 636-9095, mafoo@ocapica.org

A coalition of Pacific Islander and Southeast Asian community members and providers was established to develop a plan to reduce deficits in breast and cervical cancer screening and management among Pacific Islander and Southeast Asian women in Southern California. In developing this plan, baseline screening, epidemiological, behavior, attitudes, and knowledge data was collected through focus groups and individual interviews with Pacific Islander and Southeast Asian women, men, community leaders and health care providers. Data was collected and analyzed and utilized to develop a community action plan. The community action plan identifies key strategies for all the different populations involved to reduce breast and cervical cancer in the community. This project is a collaboration among community based organizations, community leaders, and university researchers and evaluators.

Learning Objectives: By the end of the presentation, participants will learn the following: - Increase their understanding of disparities in breast and cervical cancer screening and management among Pacific Islander and Southeast Asian women. - Increase their knowledge on the epidemiological data on breast and cervical cancer rates among Pacific Islander and Southeast Asian women. - Increase their knowledge of developing a strategic plan to reduce disparities in breast and cervical cancer among Pacific Islander and Southeast Asian women
