This presentation will provide an overview of the process by which Healthy People 2010 objectives were created. Presentation of the 13 objectives in chapter 6 of Healthy People 2010 will be made. The objectives will be discussed, and placed in several groupings--data objectives, mental health objectives, environmental objectives, societal participation objectives, and programmatic objectives. Discussion about the variety of objectives and the groups affected by the objectives, including people with disabilities, caregivers, researchers, and policy makers will be addressed. Beyond the objectives in chapter 6, strategies to address objectives in other chapters which include people with disabilities will be presented.
