Nationally, the Alzheimer's Association maintains active involvement in monitoring and stimulating improvement in approaches to caring for persons with dementia and their families. The Association pays special attention to the capacity of managed care plans in the private and public sectors to serve the needs of persons with dementia. This presentation will provide an overview from the Association's perspective of objectives and progress in the most visible state-level activities to integrate Medicare and Medicaid services for dually eligible individuals. Specific examples of efforts to take into account dementia and cognitive impairment in these state initiatives will be highlighted.

Learning Objectives: Understand how the national Alzheimer's Association monitors developments in managed care. Explain how selected states are planning to care for persons with dementia in their dually eligible populations
