The health status of the United States population has improved considerably in the past decades; however, this improvement has not reached all groups in society equally. Persons from racial/ethnic minority groups and persons with low family income are more likely to present oral health diseases and low utilization of interventions (e.g., dental sealants and dental visits) than their counterparts. Disparities in oral health are a significant public health problem in the United States today.
