This workshop will present findings from focus groups conducted in the Boston area with male-to-female and female-to-male transgender youth and adults. A total of forty-two transgender and transsexual individuals participated in these focus groups. Participants were asked about their health care needs, perceptions and experiences in the present health care system, barriers to obtaining services, support, and/or resources, and how they think services could be enhanced to better meet their needs.

Findings from these groups will be discussed, as well as ways in which providers can better meet the needs of transgender and transsexual clients.
