Eliminating disparities;international nursing partnerships

Using a framework for international health care consultation(Rosenketter,1997)and principles of participatory action, doctoral students from New York engaged in a dialectical process with educators, administrators and clinical nurses in the Czech Republic to develop strategies for initating research education for nurses. Working in collaboration with the Czech National Nurses Association, committed stakeholders identified the need for nursing research to improve patient care and outcomes.Relevant curricula agenda for teaching nursing research were and implementing research utilization were identified. Municipality, repriprocity and collaboration were encouraged throughout the consultation as a means of fostering local capacity and encouraging technical expertise.There is a commitment by the nurses of both countries to continuing the process to optimize the benefit to both partners.
