Impact of the election outcomes on the Safety Net

Adolf Falcon, of the National Alliance for Hispanic Health, will discuss the likely impact of the 2000 Presidential elections on health care reform and access to health care, with a particular emphasis on the impact on health care access for Latinos in the United States. Falcon will outline and discuss health care and access issues that are of particular concern in Latino and Hispanic communities in the United States. Finally Falcon will also discuss and analyze how these areas of particular concern impacted Latino involvement in the Presidential campaign, and may have impacted the national debate on health care reform.

Learning Objectives: 1. During this session, the presenter will discuss the likely impact of the recently held 2000 Presidential elections on health care reform and access to health care, with a particular emphasis on the impact on health care access in rural and Latino populations. 2. The presenter will analyze and assess the role that the candidates' positions on health care reform played in the election outcomes
