During the last decade, the relationship between the environment and human health, and particularly the health of children, has been recognized in several key international reports, conventions, and agreements. These include the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (1989), Agenda 21, Chapter 25 (1992), Declaration of the Environment Leaders of the Eight on Children’s Environmental Health (1997), and the Declaration of the Third European Ministerial Conference on Environment and Health (1999). These will be highlighted.

To further enhance this commitment world-wide, a global meeting is being organized to bring together many disciplines and constituencies from all geographical sectors of the globe to create a common framework for children’s environmental health.

Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of this presentation, participants will be able to 1) discuss recent international children’s environmental health reports, conventions, and agreements
