Women with disabilities are among the most disadvantaged groups in our society and may be at greater risk for health problems than men with disabilities or women without disabilities. These women experience the same health concerns as women who are not disabled, however, they have the extra responsibility of dealing with additional concerns related to their disability. Recent data from the 1994-1995 National Health Interview Survey - Disability Supplement were used to produce a special report addressing the health disparities of women with disabilities. The special report will address access to care, health status indicators, health maintenance and health promotion behaviors, and mental health issues. Implications for public health policy and practice will be discussed.
